My daughter who will be 18 in Sept. '06 graduates from H.S. in June and will attend Uni. in NY. My ex and I both live in 2 different SE Asian countries. I pay about $500/month in Child Support as court ordered even though my income is only about $1400 per month. I am supposed to have visitation every second weekend and some holidays but never had unless I travel to the other country at my expense. My ex intends to stay in SE Asia where she lives with her boyfriend and his daughters while my daughter is in college in NY.
My question is: Do I have to keep paying child support after she is 18 and in Uni? We have some agreement about sharing SUNY Tuition rates for her college. Can I get the payments reduced due to my low salary as a result of living in a country where pay in lower than the US? My wife also lives in a low (lower) cost country so expenses there are low. I am re-married and have 2 young sons.
