You should have reported it, if you had been given too much money. You would have done howled, had you been given too little.

That said, probably too late to get caught. But, if your conscience is bothering you, return to the store. Ask to see the manager. Return the overage. He or she will be surprised, and probably thank you. You'll feel better, and probably something good will happen to you for being honest.

The register would have come up short that night and its possible the store would look at cashier and possibly taking the money if that does happen the cashier could lose his/her job. In this economy this could be devastating. Do you want a role in this? You did nothing wrong and cashier made error contact store and tell them you wish to return the overpayment. I myself mailed in $2.00 to Sears many years ago when I was undercharged for some shows by $2.00

Report the shortage? Overage? to the Manager. Keep the Holiday in your heart and do not cause a overworked person to get fired.
