I have legal and physical custody of my granddaughters. I want to know if I can legally move out of New York City with my granddaughters?

Full custody does not mean you can relocate without permission.

Where are the parents? Can you please describe the situation a little?

Are you wanting to move to another town/city, or another state?

My daughter their biological mother is barely involved she visits maybe once or twice a month for a couple of hours. There is no father listed or involved. She willingly gave custody due to psych issues (bipolar / schizophrenic) which she is not seeking treatment as she stated when we went to court. I was thinking about relocating out of NY but I want to make sure that I can move with my granddaughters and what would be the correct course of action prior to making a move.

Hello, M:

Before you do anything, speak with your attorney, detail why you want to leave NY.

There are many reasons why you'd want to relocate, so explain it to your lawyer.

Then, sit back and see if he or she can make the magic happen.
