I sued the mother of my 17 year old for paternity in 1994. We settled out of court, and part of our agreement stated that we would split the cost of health care 50/50. The mother got married, left the country and didn't return until a couple of years ago after her divorce. She is now asking for the last 3 years of health care costs and is threatening to take me to small claims court. She says this is at the advice of her case worker. I am assuming that by going through small claims court that she has no recourse via the family courts to try and get this? Also, had she submitted these to me as the expenses arose, I could have added my daughter on to my insurance, which would have covered 95% of the costs she incured (her policy doesn't appear to cover vision, dental or mental health). What are my options in responding to this? Thanks in adavance or any assistance.
