Approx. a year and a half ago, I received notice that I supposedly owed the town of New Canaan for delinquent motor vehicle taxes for the year 2002 (some 12 years ago). I ignored the notice as I did not believe I owed any monies and thought their records were screwed up. I recently received an Alias Tax Warrant now claiming I owe $344.53 ($96.36 principle, $198.01 interest, $50.16 cost & fees). I moved to Florida in 2002 ( the same year they say I owe the tax) and am a full time resident. I do not intend to step foot in the State of Connecticut again. Any advice ?
