My son told me Jan 2008 that he wanted to come and live with me. He is 14 years old and his mother and I have been divorced for 12 years. We have joint custody and I pay her child support and get standard visitation. She lives in west Texas and I live in the Dallas metroplex. I told him to think about it until he came to visit for the summer and we would go from there. I talked to him about his decision and agreed with him. I hired an attorney and we filed the modification papers along with the affidavit of preference. My question is HOW MUCH WEIGHT DOES THE COURT GIVE TO THE CHILDS WISHES AT THIS AGE. She was also found in contempt Sept 2007 for dening my summer visitation. How good do you think my chances are!!!!!!!!!!

At 14 there is a good chance the court will listen to him. I would file for custody.
