I requested financial information of my ex for modification of child support. Kansas law states he has 30 days in which to have the information to me.If I need to retain a lawyer (which I can not afford) to obtain the information he "may" be held responsible for my lawyers fees. Question.....are the 30 days considered business days or just days. What if he took 6 days to pick the registered letter up? Just lost time for me? Can I file modification without his information, mine only and a guess on his and hope for the best?

You cannot file a mod unless you have proof of his income. You will only win by default if he does not respond or show to the hearing. You do not need to obtain counsel unless he just does not cooperate. Since you are filing this motion being awarded lawyer fees is pretty slim. I believe he has 30 calandar days to respond.
