The building in which I live has had no hot water for 6 days. The hot water has just been restored. My question is does my landlord have to make a rent adjustment to cover that period of 6 days when he was not providing liveable conditions? And also, was he legally obligated to put us up in a hotel for those 6 days?

Thanks for your help.

Technically yes, but don't expect much if anything at all. These areas are usually set by law as to maximum amounts. It could be up to, e.g. 15% of your monthly rent but that would be on a pro-rated. Whether you want to tinker with the relationship if it isn't there is up to you.
