Credit card companies rarely sue anyone. They write the bad debt off for tax purposes. The debt is bought by scavenger debt collectors. The scavenger debt collectors are the ones that sue you, using down on their luck lawyers.

All you have to do is respond with what is called a "general denial".

Generally, if you file a general denial and/or go to court these creeps fail to appear or don't follow through.

The creeps that are after you want easy money.
They want you to default or fail to appear.
They often slither away if they see you're fighting back.
