HI,
I live in the UK and recently bid and won a laptop on Ebay(UK). With in a day the seller contacted me. Payment was to be by cheque, bank transfer or postal orders. I was going to send a cheque but in the end I settled on doing a bank-to-bank transfer of the funds (£300). The transfer took about 5 days to clear in the sellers bank account. I received an email from the seller that the transfer had cleared and he would post the item immediately. That was 14 days ago.. still no Laptop !
During those 14 days, I have sent the seller many emails, but had no reply. I did receive an email from Ebay about 7 days later that stated that the sellers trading rights had been removed. I have contacted trading standards and the local police, but they do not appear to be interested as Ebay have there own fraud claim system. So I have raised a dispute regarding the item, but the most I can claim back will be £105.
I went to the small claims court (UK) and they gave me all the forms to fill out, but I do not have the sellers postal address only his bank account details (sort code, account number and account name), so I guess I can not pursue it any further with the small claims court ?
The ebay user name of the seller was pythonman, his email address was stevemonty@hotmail.co.uk but his name appeared as Brad Eccleston, which matched the name of his bank account.
Can anyone please advise me what, if anything, I can do next, to try and get most of my £300 back ?
Many Thanks
