Hello Everyone,

An old former friend is sending along emails to family and friends in which he declares rather heinous behavior on my part: from chronic drug use, intent to deal, a drug conviction, and unsavory behavior with women. None is true.
Is he legally responsible for these remarks in California, and more importantly, if so, what charges can he face? There's nothing I'd rather do than visit in him in prison and bring him a cake.

thank you, Indiana

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Maybe you can say you are being stalked, as far as criminal goes. . .

Civil damages would be difficult. . .

Thanks, Raskalnikov.
So he's free to send around these false statements, accusations? I mean, it's character defamation, right- not slander?
thanks again, Indiana

Sticks and Stones people will say what they want and how and when they want that is just how our country works as for legal advice i have none but dont let this "formet friend" have the power over you to make you upset and anyone who believes him is powerless themselves

have you suffered any damages? lost a job, a contract, etc?
