Personal Finance refers to financial management skills that are necessary for individual or family households to ensure that the properly save, spend and invest money while planning for future events and taking into account risks. Consumer Protection Law ensures that consumers have the benefits of having reasonable information and fair trade competition before they make a purchase in the marketplace. These legal rights are designed to prevent fraud by vendors and also to provide protection for those who are less capable of protecting themselves, such as the elderly. The law covers the purchase and sale of products, services and related matters such as credit and loans. Popular federal law includes the Consumer Credit Protection Act (CCPA) (Truth in Lending Act), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Fair Credit Billing Act was added to the CCPA in 1975 to deal with billing practices in credit accounts. The Magnuson-Moss Act covers requirements for product warranties. Personal finance concerns management of individual or family finances. it includes making a budget, saving money and planning spending while taking into account financial risk and future events that may occur. This includes incurring debt such as student loans, medical loans, credit card debt, credit ratings and other issues concerning money management and refinancing.
