Wrongfully Terminated!!!!!!!!!??

I was fired this weekend 5-24-08.

The boss called said I paid you to much.

I have a check with my name on it for about 1000 dollars over what I should get.

Boss wants me to deposit check in my account, then hand over 1000 in cash.

I say "ok" at first.

After further review, I want a new check with correct pay for tax purposes.

Boss gets frustrated, angry, and threating.

Through the arguement, boss says he will stoppayment on check and I am fired and not to show up next week.:coolio:

P.s. I am not an employee. I am Independent Contractor :coolio:

If you are an IC then employment laws, including wrongful termination laws, do not apply to you. (BTW, this would not be a wrongful term if you were an employee - wrongful termination does not mean what most people think it means).

You will have to show your contract to a local attorney to determine if this violates it.
