I have filed for employment and they at first denied it. But I appealed it. The unemployment commission agreed that what happen with me was not a violation of the policy. They stated that what happen had nothing to do with my job.

Seems you guys are missing the point.

If your Employer has a Employee Handbook read it, I dont care if you are a At-will or contract Employee.

Your HAnd book could save your job.

Now if you signed any other docs make sure you understand and always get a copy.

And Document any conversation your manager said. It could save your job
OP, you do understand, however, that being granted unemployment benefits does not automatically mean the reason for the termination was illegal, right? It very seldom does; hardly ever, in fact.
