I'm leased to a trucking company I was notified a day before payday that my weekly settlement account would be frozen because of my logs and would continue until they were turned in. Can they do this? If not how should I handle this from happening to me or anyone else?

I'm leased to a trucking company and was notified a day before payday that my account with them would be frozen until they receive my logs. They said that's their way of controlling the drivers. Can they do this? If not what can I do to prevent this from happening to me again.
