We had an employee who has quit her job but she is refusing to provide the office with her password on the office computer.
Therefore, the new employee is not able to open the computer and get appropriate information form the computer.
Because of that we can not complete the final year report.
Is there any legal action we can take and make the previous employee to release the information?

I'm on the other side of this issue (being terminated due to downsizing, and being the only IT person with all the passwords). I posed this question, and was told that the passwords, etc are property of the company, and I could be sued to give them up, and that I would definitely lose. So you may have to resort to legal action, or hire an IT person to crack into the computer. It can easily be done.

Yes, you can sue the employee for the information belonging to the company.
