My husband was in an elevator three stories high.it broke, dropped him all the way down to the basement.hevis currently sueing.what are my rights? Because now he is acting shady towards me what are my rights to an $$ he might recieve? Anr what should i do t protect myself?

California is somewhat unique with this one and the law isn't exactly straightforward.

If the money is for lost earnings incurred during the marriage, the award generally becomes community property (in other words, you're entitled to a share) as long as both the injury AND the filing of the lawsuit occurred during - and not before - the marriage.

If the money is for pain and suffering, it's usually all his.

Bear in mind, if he's acting shady you might want to speak with an attorney. Like, now.

Since Ca. is a community property state, I would do as Proserpina suggested & talk to an attorney as to just what your interest in the money is/share of the money is.
