I currently live in Japan with my military husband. He would like to file an adoption request for my daughter. We filed in California before we moved but the process took so long we were forced to move before a hearing was scheduled. We can have a lawyer represent us in court in California but it is terribly expensive and the California court won't give us any information on our case's status unless we appear in-person at their offices. My husband is a legal resident of Florida. Can he file the request there? What are our options? thanks!
