What recourse do I have after learning ex husband didn't pay taxes for years.

I was married for more many years and found out after the divorce that while my ex was "in charge" of filing our taxes every year and swore he did, he actually never filed for more than seven years. Amongst other disaster as a result of his lies, I lost my home and credit rating. My question is: The tax bills are still out there. Do I have any recourse since I was under the impression they were being paid every year by my former spouse or am I out of luck because I trusted a pathological liar?

Out of luck. You had equal responsibility.
You can focus on rebuilding your credit instead of dwelling on past events that can't be changed.
If the two of you are now separated that debt should have been divided up.

The IRS isn't going to accept the excuse that you were under the impression the taxes were being paid every year by your ex husband. Sorry.
