What date is settlement enforced

I'n my divorce we had a property settlement agreement and in it I said I would purchase the house within a year.

Is it a year From the divorce or a year from when we agreed on the terms.

You signed this settlement agreement, right? And before signing it, you read it carefully and made sure you understood every word, right? And you wouldn't sign something that contained an ambiguous statement, right?

The clock starts running from the date the divorce decree is signed by the judge and entered into the court records.

If the decree says purchase within a year (with no other terms) then you purchase within a year from the date of the decree or you suffer the consequences whatever they may be.

You really need to ask your attorney about this. You DID have an attorney representing you in your divorce, right??
