If I were to film a wedding, which of course includes filming the first dances (Bride and Groom, Bride with Father, etc) which means I'm capturing the music that's being played, would this violate copyright laws on the music?

Now, The Professor will have a better answer, but common sense tells me no.
You aren't trying to record the music, you're capturing the moment, the event.
You're also not going to use the music for financial gain.
I'm sure the greedy Hollywood slime would like to figure out a way to charge you for listening to music when you walk by, but they would have no case against you in this scenario.
