I worked for a company for amost 3 years. Good performance reviews the first 2 years.
Then I got 3 disciplinary actions against me in a 3 month period. I would be fired if I got 4 so I voluntarily quit.
I applied for unemployment. Unemployment is going to call me to discuss the "voluntary quit."
(I was told by Medical Assistance caseworker that I had to file for unemployment in order to get Medical Assistance for my son. If I am denied, I have to send results to M.A.)
Unemployment can deny benefits and apply penalty (disqualified from receiving benefits until becomes reemployed, earns at least 15 times his weekly benefit amount in covered employment).
I am ok with deny benefits, but I don't want the penaly if at all possible.
What is the best thing I can say to avoid penalty?
They said they would put me on a employee performance program at the 2nd disciplinary action, but never did. I wanted to go on it to avoid problems.
They have fired many employees over the past couple of months. I am sure they are replacing them with employees at a lower pay rate. I know I was replaced by an employee paid at a lower rate.
Should I point these facts out to the unemployment interviewer? Or would that just hurt me?
Or should I just explain that I filed for unemployment as a part of Medical Assistance requirement?
