I was with a company that offered paid vacation and paid time off. I had 60 hours accrued when I quit. I gave them notice and left on good terms, but they have yet to pay me for it. Is it a law or more of a good service to pay former employers their paid vacation/time off hours/days? I contacted our region's office about it, and they said they'll check into it. Any help is appreciated, or if anybody has a similar experience, please share! Thanks!

Yes, though not all states require the payout of accrued but unused vacation time at termination, IL does. Note that ONLY accrued time is required, not time that would have been accrued. Also, only vacation time is mandated; other forms of paid leave are up to company policy. You can contact the IL DOL for further assistance.

No, not unless the employer has a policy saying they will.

It's not necessary to post the same question twice, for future reference. :)
