I have a payroll check from almost one year ago. I just found the check while cleaning. I still work for the same company but different owners. At the time my present employer was president but not the owner which consisted of three companies under one umbrella. He is currently owner of the company. I was told that the check would bounce and his response currently is that he doesn't know if funds were acquired for the check and this could be a added expense for him. I was never informed that the check was outstanding and feel that my present employer has to make good on the check.

Does it say in the check that it is void after a certain amount of time? Now, besides the obvious question of how could this have happened, here is what you can do: ask your current boss if he can pay you for the check balance in installments. Hope this helps!
