Unadopt ?

Can we unadopt a daughter? We adopted a 28 year old girl in 1998. Six months later she walked out of our lives. Long story but my theory is she came into our lives for money, my husband doesn't want to believe this. It's been all but four years since, and nothing. I'm also concerned about what if my husband and I died at the same time she would split every thing with our 30 year old son. I can't get my husband to think about a will. He just won't deal with it. What can I do?

It might be easiest if you and your husband write a will that would provide for all of your monies to go to specified beneficiaries other than this adopted daughter. Just because you adopted an adult doesn't mean she is entitled to your money -- she will likely get a portion if you don't have a will and you or your husband dies "instestate."
