Ok, here is the situation. I was adopted as a child of 7 and while my name was changed and I have a SS # and credit cards and a PO Box etc all in the name I was given by my adoptive parents, the name on my birth certificate was never changed. I have now applied for a passport and because of the different name issue I was denied. I want to go and get my birth certificate changed to the name my adoptive parents gave me. However, I did spend 60 days in prison a couple of years ago on an assualt charge and know that this can affect my ability to get my name changed.
Any help or suggestions would help as to what my next step would be.
