I am a licensed Professional Educator. I was hired by a man to teach ESL and GED Prep to clients sent by the Texas Workforce Solutions. He was supposed to pay me & several others with monies from a grant issued to him by the Texas Workforce Solutions (part of the grant involved Federal money). He never paid us. It has been several years & one attorney said I could still collect because of the fact the grant involved Fed Money. The attorney has sent letters to him & have received various excuses for why he hasn't paid. I have documentation of everything involved with the job performed (including witnesses who also were not paid by him) and his responses. I am owed a little under $6,000 and maybe interest. The chief of police is avoiding meeting with me so I can file "Theft of Labor." He still owns and operates a school for LVN classes. I need to find someone who will help me file a suit. What can I do? What do you recommend?

You need to hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit.

Since you waited "several years" then it may be too late.
