I recently learned that I was made beneficiary for my father's pension benefit. I sent in all the documents for processing a death claim in the first week of October, 2008. I still haven't received my money. I called yesterday, and spoke to a person at the pensions and benefits office. She told me that they were "backed up", and that my papers might be in a stack "upstairs."
She said that she would call me today, to tell me if my claim had been processed. Of course I haven't heard from her. This didn't seem right to me, and I am worried that my claim is not being handled properly. What is the usual process and time frame for processing a claim like this?
