I had some tests done at a womens clinic. On the forms, it asked for an emergency contact. I chose to list my mother as my emergency contact. She was contacted with my test results instead of me. The nurse proceeded to give her my full test results after only confirming her last name, which of course we share. These are not fatal or life threating results however they are embarassing and something I would not want my parent to know. Do I have any legal recourse? Now I am forced to discuss my medical information with my mother.
