my 17 yrold daughter came to my house and doesn't want to go back to her mother. can I get in to trouble if she stays with me/

Yes, you need to go to court and file cor custody ASAP. As far as whether or not the police will force a 17 yr old to return home, not sure. It's probably up to the officer and their policy on civil disputes.
