I began raising my son when he was 3, he'll be 12 in July. So it has been nearly 9 years. I legally adopted him in 2004 as his biological mother surrendered her rights. Am I legally obligated to allow contact between biological mom and my son, or am I correct in saying that I am not obligated to allow her or her family any contact whatsoever as her rights as a parent were terminated?

Also, if my husband is planning on driving my son across state lines to visit said biological mother, is there a motion I can file to prevent this trip? We are legally married, not separated or divorced. Safety is my main concern, and I am not confident that my son will be in good hands with this woman, as there have been complaints through child services in Pennsylvania in the past.

We live in NJ. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Does he want to see the biological mother? Why does your husband want to take him, if she gave up her rights to be his mother?
I would suggest contacting a lawyer, to see what you could do.

she is no longer mom

you and your husband decide who can and cant have contact with your son. you are under no obligation to allow bio mom contact, as she no longer has any rights to the child. neither does her family
