when i was little my stepdad molested my sister and i. last time it happened was when i was 13. he violated me in front of my my, who didn't care, and my brother, who thought it was a game. i suffered abused at his hands too, but i want to make sure that he can never do that to anyone ever again. i am now 19, and have stopped being afraid of what my mom will do to me. she has already disowned, and kicked me out of the house when i turned 17.

i need to know what the statute of limitations are for the state of michigian. i did report it when i was in 10th grade, but nothing ever happened with it, exept they kicked me out of school for a day. CPS was called on my mom a few times before that for beating my older brother. she was always found inoccent. she was a member of the volenteer police department, so everyone figured i was lying when i told. they had a CPS agent in the room when i recounted what had happened. can i still press charges on my step dad?

For some reason, 7 to 10 years sticks out in my head, and even at 7 years you should still be covered.

Of course, you could just go down and ask at the police station while you file your report?

Really sorry to hear this happened to you. :(

well in 1994 there was a few cases, and the limits were 1-2 years. i dont know if they have changed. when i was raped before this, i kept it in, and the person i told said i had 5 years. that was 5 years ago.

If nothing else, it's worth at least going and talking to someone at the police department with. Perhaps they may not be able to get the strongest laws, but maybe there's others, child endangerment, conspiracy to <something> (I assume when you said 'my my' you had meant your monther, which would me she was an accessory as well.)

I'm not you, I can't say what would make you feel better, but I know I would feel better if I could look back and say 'at least I tried', as opposed to just throwing in the towel.
