I have a child support order with my ex husband since 2006. I want to know if I can squash the child support order (payments) in exchange for full custody of my son. Ex husband is non existent in my son's life financially and physically, even though he lives in the same town. Just want to find out if it is possible before I start contacting a lawyer locally. Thank you.

Custody and support are unrelated generally. You can choose not accept payments but not if you got any state or federal aid for child
