Military justice works.

A "NGRI" verdict is very difficult to obtain.

This judge is to be commended.

A military judge found Pfc. Carl T. Stovall not guilty of murder in the March 2009 shooting of a civilian contractor in Iraq by reason of lack of mental responsibility.

Stovall, a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic, was charged after he shot and killed Hungarian laborer Tibor Bogdan at Camp Taji during his third deployment to Iraq.

The decision comes at the end of a five-day court-martial in which witnesses testified to Stovall's mental state before and after the shooting.

The judge, Col. Kirsten Brunson, ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Stovall, and set a Nov. 10 sentencing hearing.

Hmm... so why did the Army put a rifle in the hands of a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic? Seems to me that is a bit unsafe...

Moose, I don't think they did.

More than likely, they didn't know of his condition.

Or, did three combat tours cause him to go bonkers?
