Shoplifting newjersey Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft

    Incident took place 2 weeks ago . This is my 1st offence .Caught shoplifting at sears above 100 dollars . They took back room and took my ID,address,height and weight and took photograph. No fingerprints . And i signed 2 papers i dont know what papers were those. No police involved, later in a week i received civil demand which is of 150$ i paid the same day i received the mail. Now what can i expect from them . Is it possible they press charges on me . Im not a minor. Please do help. Lp told u will receive a letter from my lawyer pay the fine. If needed u will come to court . What does this mean ?

    I am a Retail Theft consultant and answer questions like yours daily. The store ( you should not have named publicly) has NOTHING to gain by filing a Police report now so you can relax

    Thank you .. so they dont press charges now ri8. Im very tensed . I will never do that again. I learnt a lesson.

    They shouldn't press charges. Usually once they got your loot, you're free to scoot.

    Is there any possibility of store to press charges even after civil demand paid.its been 2 weeks the incident and i haven't received anything from them other than civil demand .

    Possible? yes likely no as stated the store has NOTHING to gain by doing so if you paid Civil Demand
