I got caught shoplifting, and I'm waiting to get my court date in the mail. I talked to two attorney, both gave me diff answers. What I want to know, can I plea to a lesser charge, or get into a program to keep off my record. I was never handcuffed or arrested. I admitted I was wrong, said I was sorry, and did a statement and let go. What I'm I looking at in the Courtroom, I can't afford a attorney.

If you can't afford an attorney when you go to court, ask the court to appoint one for you. The attorney will tell you your options & get you the best outcome possible.

Yes you can ask about ACD or Diversion as plea options. These programs (where they exist) should protect your record

OP, you need to know that this charge s brought under federal law on a US military reservation.

You'll be tried or heard before. US Magistrate, in a federal courtroom.

Ask for a US Public Defender or Criminal Defense attorney to be appointed to represent you.

Once that happens, you'll be afforded an opportunity to take care of this in a less than unpleasant manner.

I presume you are a civilian, and not a member of the US Military, right?

Otherwise, please advise your status.
