I've had my dog for 10 years about a year after he was born I got in a relation ship. Said relationship ended badly she took my dog and hid him from me now she won't let me even see him is there anything I can do?

Called the local police department to file a theft report? They informed me once we lived together that he is communal property. Its my ex girlfriend we were together for about 9 years
