Severance Pay

My friend just got laid off from an Internet Web company. There is a surprise. Well, she only got two weeks of severance even though she has been with the company for 2 and a 1/2 years. She thinks some other favored people got a lot more and she wants to hold out. Can she? What rights does she have?

If she was an at will employee she might not even be entitled to severance unless it was promised to her in the company policy manual or she had it put in her employment agreement if she had one. But if she knows dirt she can always discuss a good severance package!!!!
