Separation or Divorce

I have been married 24 years and have an 18-year-old daughter who is a SPED student in college. She and I have suffered emotional and mental abuse for a number of years. My husband took me off the checking account. I am considering separation. Can I legally as him to leave and will he be responsible of the continued care of my daughter and myself?

You are free to leave him.
Neither he or you are legally obligated to care for an adult son or daughter.
If you choose to take your daughter with you when you leave, he won't be required to support her.
She may have developmental issues, but she's an adult.

As to supporting you, it depends.
If it were to happen, a judge would have to order him to do so.
To cause that to happen, you'd have to retain an attorney.
So, I suggest you visit two or three divorce attorneys, and you'll know just how to proceed.
