A friend of mine who is eligable for applying for US Citizenship but scared because he was arrested for selling liqor to minor 13 years ago under a fake ID but his finger prints were taken by the police. Does his record will show up on FBI Finger Print. Thnx

Was he arrested and fingerprinted? if so... his record will mostly show up there... was he charged? what was the sentence?

just be honest to the immigration. It has been 13 years. Unless your friend is still doing, he would be ok. Citizenship requires 5 years of good character. Of course, if you hire a lawyer to go over the case, then it would be better.

he should be ok.

well let me know how that comes up. that would be a good reference here. Thanks.

someone25 is correct. Since your friend was fingerprinted it would probably show up. But he should admit to it even if it does not show up in other background checks…Expunctions don't hold in immigration cases. If the maximum sentence for the crime was less than a year, then he should be fine due to the petty offense exception. So even if he admits to it, it would not affect his citizenship.......five year law above.
