my boyfriend and i have a 1yr old together, i have found myself wanting leave this relationship because it is unhealthy for me. Althought i want to leave he keeps me here by blackmailing me and threatening to take my son away. is there anything i can do to prevent this. I have knowledge that if our son is left in his care he will not be properly looked after. My boyfriend cant even afford to pay for the bills and has to rely on others for transportation. I would like to leave and have stated to him that i would allow visitation rights. but he says that if he cant have my son he will do whatever he can to make sure i dont have my son either. what legal action can i take or should i take

Was paternity established? alot depends on what state you are in. you are free toleave with the child but you should file for custody and child support. Stop listening to dads threats. If you are not moving far then you have a right to take the child. He will likely get awarded some sort of visitation.
