Hello,
Does a professional CPA have any legal or moral obligation to represent me at an IRS audit involving their preparation on tax returns if I have requested it and is there any case law to this.
Thank You
Michael

I don't know about case law, but I would have a hammer lock on my CPA's stones until my audit was done. HE/SHE prepared the tax returns and you had a right by virtue of their position to take and rely upon their advice. I'm absolutely certain they have liability if they are wrong. CPA's I know wouldn't let their client go near an audit without them unless they are the ones that turned you in.
