KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A homeless man was held Thursday in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond, charged in connection with the rape of an 8-year-old Killeen girl whose mother was in the hospital at the time of the sexual assault.
Travarius Leon Dent, 37, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The girl told an interviewer on March 2 at the Children's Advocacy of Central Texas that she was raped in November 2012 when she was 8 while her mother was in the hospital to deliver a baby, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
She also said she was touched inappropriately as frequently as every other day for a period of four to five years until she told her mother about what was happening in February, the affidavit says.
Killeen police arrested Dent on Wednesday.
