-MN Custody Laws-

I am three months pregnant and the father of my child says he wants 50/50 custody once the baby is born. We are unmarried and not together. I am moving to MN in June to be by my family and support system, as I have no one in Florida to help me. He plans on staying in Florida. I will be 7 months pregnant when I move and the baby isn't due until August 25th. My first question is, is there anyway he can prevent me from moving out of the state before the baby is even born? My second question is what are the custody laws of a newborn baby regarding unmarried parents living in two different state? What is the likeyhood he will get 50/50 legal or physical custody of a newborn baby, while living in a different state?

I would move now before the baby is born which is what it appears you plan on doing.

Secondly, until paternity is established he has no rights. It is VERY unlikely he will have any chance at custody or even 50/50 custody. 50/50 custody is usually not given with infants especially out of state. Once the baby is born you can file for child support and visitation, you can ask that visits be supervised for the first year or so. Keep in mind though that since you are moving, it is possible you might be expected to provide some transportation for visits or dad can also ask for a CS reduction to offset travel expenses.

You have a long time of fighting with dad when a baby is not even born yet. I suggest figuring out a way to get along with him otherwise you both will be fighting the next 18 years.
