Hi,

I had applied for a trademark (logo) for a particular company name. The logo consisted of stylized words and some other art.

Is it possible to trademark another logo for the same company?

For example, if the company name is "Web Design", and I've already trademarked a logo that has stylized "Web Design" with artwork, can I apply for another trademark that has "WD" with some other artwork?

Please let me know if this is possible, and what is the best way to go about this.

Thank you so much for your help!

If the name is yours...

Yes, of course you can!

The most important thing here is the company name which (by the sound of it) already belongs to you and that should give you the freedom to cut-and-paste, shrink-or-enlarge, or whatever else it is you wish to do to the logo. But just for your own protection, make sure you add the line (or something to that effect): Such-&-Such™® is a Registered Trademark of Web Design. All Rights Reserved.

However, and to mention the obvious here, you could not do the same thing with someone else's company name regardless of how much decoration or bells-and-whistles are added to transform the original company name into an entirely new logo.

Good luck with your new venture.

Hi,

Thank you for your response!

So in my case, is the new logo something that I need to register/trademark? Do I have to use a new application or something?

Thanks!
