posing as someone else on yahoo email

Has a crime been committed and/or can it be proven if someone accesses another person's email account and pretends to be that person when replying to said person's contacts? The password was given to this person via a third person. Is this easily proven with or without the emails- it occurred over one year ago as well. Is there a statute of limitations? Please if anyone has any information on this get back to me

From your very vague description, it doesn't sound like a crime has been committed.
