Hello All,

Hopefully I am doing this correctly. I am a single mother of a 6 year old, living in Mass currently, wondering what or if the "father" of my child has any right's ? He is not currently paying child support and was just a "boyfriend" (we were never married) things went wrong as they tend to, after 8 years and I am now engaged to someone that lives out of state. I have been contacting all different Family Court Information departments to find out what or if I need to contact him and let him know before I leave. And so far no luck. No one can seem to tell me if I need to let him know or if he can stop me from moving. I have been working on trying to find out this information for two months now, I am now coming here hoping to find something, ANYTHING that can help.
Does he have any right's towards not allowing me to move, even though he has nothing to do with his child now, seeing that we only live about 20 minutes from him ?? Also we haven't heard from him for 3 months, last I heard he was moving out of state himself!
I have also search all over the internet and have found many "Father's Right's" sites but, none actually tell one if or what they have right's to..

Please, if anyone has any helpful information reply back, it would be highly appreciated

Thank You so much for reading this!

Yes, the father of a child has rights.

I would contact an lawyer on this one. I wouldnt go based apon someone words who has no legal backround in your area and hasnt looked at your paper work (custudy papers, child support ect...) You dont want to be charged with anything. If it is anything like my set up, I can, we werent married, he pays child support, his names on birth certificate, but I have full custudy. I just need to notify him thats all. But each state is different I think.

I think it would be worth the time and your guys safety to seek an lawyers advice here.
