My family and I contracted with a pool company on July 2 to install a pool. We have paid them 90% of the money. We have recieve excuse after excuse on why the job has not been completed. We recieved a letter stating that they had filed bankruptcy on Oct 20. Do we have any rights? What can we do to try and get back some of our money? We are regular people, both work, sometimes 2 jobs. We had planned and saved for the pool for years. Please help.

You have the right to have the pool installed or have your money refunded. The first is not going to happen, since the company is in bankruptcy, and the second appears to be in jeopardy because the company is insolvent.

When the company declares bankruptcy, they need to list the people they owe money to. You should be on that list. Attend the bankruptcy hearing, and talk to the trustee to see what your prospects are.
