i have a website where i post photos of my family members (www.haleen.com)
i have a niece who's son was legally adopted by her mother
my niece has supplied me with photos of herself and her son together which i have posted
the photos were taken by my niece (her property)
my nieces mother has theatened leagal action because i have posted the photos of her adopted son without her permission
do i have to remove them ?

this is one of those cases which courts would love to throw out right away. For the sake of family peace you probably should take them down.

Legally, the rights to pics usually are with the person who owns them (took them) or the person who is in them, so in your case not with you. So under copyright law you cannot post them.

the person who took them (my niece, the boys birth mother) DOES want them posted, the adopted boys mother, who is actually his grandmother, my nieces mother, is the one that doesn't want them up, just because shes in a feud with my niece. i want to do what my niece wants if its legal
