Hello, my friend may have recently mistakingly received pedophilia pictures in which he deleted soon after. The sender is now talking about extorting him for money (she claimed to be 20), could he be charged for possession of child pornography if this is taken to court?

He could be charged with many things.

He might even be corresponding with a law enforcement official.

The internet is a very dangerous place.

Its too late to worry about it now.

Until law enforcement approaches him (if they ever approach him), he should immediately stop corresponding with the person in question, and avoid corresponding with anyone he doesn't know.

If he ever communicated with minors, he might want to stop that, too!

Tell him to view this video, IF he is arrested or approached by law enforcement.

They will also want to seize his computer.

Finally, I heard about this happening to a man once.

I am told he destroyed his computer, trying to conceal the evidence.

They had no evidence, even though they did bring him to trial, and I am told he said he it was better to have lost a $600 computer than to have ended up in prison.

Better bet is not to engage in any conversations with minors.
